Is this actually free, or a trial?
Genuinely free — no credit card at signup, no expiry date. It's intentionally limited (1 GB RAM, sleeps when idle) so we can offer it to everyone; when you need more, upgrading to a dedicated paid server is one click away.
Why does my server go to sleep?
Free servers share a pool of resources. A server with nobody connected is stopped after a short idle period so that capacity is available for everyone else, and it starts back up automatically the moment someone connects — usually within about 15 seconds.
Can I run mods or plugins?
The free tier runs vanilla Minecraft. For Forge, Fabric, Paper plugins, and full mod support, see our paid game servers — full file/console access, no curated allow-list.
What happens to my world if I don't play for a while?
Your world is saved to disk and stays there — only the running server process stops when idle, never your data.
Can I get a dedicated, always-on server instead?

How is this different from Aternos or other free Minecraft hosts?
Similar idea — a shared free pool, wake-on-connect, sleep-on-idle — but no ad-gated queue screen and no unpredictable port. Connect on the standard port at yourname.play.nxeon.cloud, and when you outgrow the free tier, upgrading is a dedicated server on the same account, not a separate product.
Why would you give away a Minecraft server for free?
It's how we introduce people to Nxeon. Some players stay on the free tier forever, and that's genuinely fine — others outgrow it and upgrade to a paid game server. Either way, you got a real Minecraft server with no catch.
