Factorio is CPU-led, not RAM-hungry — the sim runs on a single fast core, so clock speed matters more than core count. A small factory runs comfortably on 2 GB; a large megabase with heavy overhaul mods is happier on 4 GB and the fastest cores you can get. Our plans pair quick cores with NVMe so your UPS stays at 60.
Is Factorio server hosting Steam-based?+
No — the Factorio headless server is a direct download from the official site, not Steam. That makes it simple to install and update over SSH with full root, and it means no Steam account or GSLT is required to run a public server.
Can I run modpacks like Krastorio 2 or Space Exploration?+
Yes. Mods come from the official Factorio Mod Portal as .zip files that drop into the server's mods folder, managed via mod-list.json. The one golden rule is that every client must run the exact same mods and versions as the server — our install guide covers the full workflow.
How many players can join?+
